We have numerous Olympic ties, including the start of a long and successful career for one of our country’s gold medalists.
In 2000 a cute 4-year old showed up at Greenville Gymnastics because her Parents were looking for an outlet for her abilities, enthusiasm and energy. Though she did not stay with our program long as her Dad was a Professional Athlete and moved to another team we were happy to give her a solid start in the sport. In 2012 this young lady won an Olympic Gold Medal in Gymnastics at the London Olympics. Her name is Kyla Ross and we are honored to have had a part in her Gymnastics career!!
Other Olympic connections include in 1992, when the ribbon cutting for our facility was hosted by Olympians Wendy Bruce, Svetlana Boguinskaya, and John Roethlisberger as well as USA Gymnastics icon Kurt Thomas.
In 1996 Greenville Gymnastics was chosen as the Olympic Training site for both the Chinese Men’s and Women’s Olympic Teams’ Pre-Olympic Training Camp prior to the XXVI Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. Among those two teams emerged the Men’s Olympic All Around Champion in 1996. In addition Greenville Gymnastics has hosted the Swiss National Gymnastics Team as well as teams from South America and Germany.
